University of Cologne’s New York Office

The University of Cologne’s New York Office cultivates relations with North American partners and offers researchers from the University of Cologne platforms to network, present their scientific results, and initiate new collaborations in the U.S. and Canada. It serves as a first point of contact for faculty and students in the United States and Canada who are interested in the University of Cologne, reaches out to the university’s network of German and international alumni in North America, organizes delegation visits, and assists with the organization of the University of Cologne’s summer school in New York.

University of Cologne

Since its establishment in 1388, the University of Cologne has been a center of science and scholarship in Europe. Today, it is one of the leading German research universities. It offers students an exceptionally broad and diverse subject base and encourages them to follow their own academic interests. This allows them to develop both intellectually and personally. Key Profile Areas conduct internationally competitive research on highly topical scientific, technological and social issues, such as aging-associated diseases, behavioral economic engineering and social cognition, plant science, quantum matter and materials, and socio-economic, cultural and political transformations in the Global South. The University of Cologne has a strong international network with partner institutions worldwide with more than 300 partnerships on faculty- and department-level and 85 university-wide partnerships. Three international Liaison Offices in North-America, China and India raise the university’s international profile and provide a first point of contact for non-European international partners. The International Faculty program is designed to attract high-caliber international scholars to Cologne. While firmly committed to the advancement of human knowledge through basic research, the University of Cologne also has an eye on transfer and application in the real world.
