ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Building Connections between Freiburg and New York in Science, Research, and Entrepreneurship

Moderated by Dr. Susanne Wilke, biotech entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and Friends of Freiburg Board Member, this roundtable will explore how to strengthen the innovation corridor between Freiburg and New York. Bringing together scientists and researchers from Freiburg, entrepreneurs in health sciences and robotics from both cities, venture capital representatives, health tech stakeholders, and New York-based alumni of the University of Freiburg, the discussion will focus on deepening the transatlantic relationship between Freiburg and New York.

The conversation will spotlight three areas in particular: mentoring, as Prof. Dr. Helmut Laaff (Academia Meets Industry) introduces a program pairing recent University of Freiburg research graduates with New York-based Freiburg alumni; entrepreneurship, with Dr. Harald Schützeichel discussing the work of the Freiburg Entrepreneurship Institute (FRENI); and funding, with Randy Howie (New York Robotics) considering the potential for a fund focused on health tech, medical devices, and robotics in Germany, especially in Freiburg.

Participants are warmly encouraged to stay for the activities following Roundtable Discussion 1. DWIH New York is proud to support this event.
