GAIN Conference 2018
The annual GAIN conference is the largest German science and research career fair in the US. With nearly 700 participants early career researchers and representatives from all areas of the German research landscape come together for three days of exchange, learning and networking. Various workshops, panels and a talent fair make the event a rare opportunity to meet a large number of experts, policy makers and to connect with the German university leadership.
One day out of the three day conference is dedicated to international researchers. It is an ideal place for MA, PhD, and postdoctoral students, as well as junior faculty of all disciplines to learn about academic careers and funding opportunities in Germany.
DWIH Event at GAIN: Were there innovators in Utopia? – Creating environments and infrastructures that foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
This morning panel and conversation will address the following questions: What makes a city or a region suitable for innovation and entrepreneurship? What constitutes an effective innovation ecosystem? What would the innovators’ Utopia look like? What can regional and national administrations do to create such an environment? What is the role of the academe and what is the role of the private sector? Why are some places more successful than others?
