International collaboration has long been essential to scientific discovery and innovation, yet the landscape of global science is changing. Geopolitical tensions, research security concerns, and shifting funding priorities are reshaping how transatlantic partnerships are built and maintained.

This panel brings together researchers, exchange organizations, academic leaders, publishing, and students to explore how transatlantic science collaboration works in practice: how partnerships are formed, how researchers and institutions navigate a changing international environment, and why international experience remains vital for the next generation of scientists.

The discussion brings together four complementary perspectives:

  • Institutional – supporting international research and mobility
  • Research – collaborating across borders as a scientist
  • Publishing & Global Higher Education – shaping international scholarly dialogue
  • Student Experience – navigating international study and research opportunities today

The panel will also consider how German universities and research institutions can strengthen their international engagement and position Germany as an attractive destination for students, researchers, and scientific collaboration.
