Hasso Plattner Institute

The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), Germany’s University Excellence Center for Digital Engineering, opened its New York City office at 10 Hudson Yards in June 2017. The office is responsible for enhancing HPI’s global outreach through a variety of activities, including conferences, symposia, panel discussions, workshops as well as the establishment of strategic partnerships in academia and industry.

 

 

HPI New York, which will soon become the headquarters for the Global Design Thinking Association, offers a variety of Design Thinking workshops as well as certification courses for individuals who are interested in becoming Design Thinking coaches.

The Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) for Digital Engineering in Potsdam is Germany’s university excellence center for digital engineering and consistently earns a top spot in the CHE University Rankings. With its bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in “IT Systems Engineering,” the Faculty of Digital Engineering, established jointly by HPI and the University of Potsdam, offers a practical, engineering-oriented study program in computer science. The HPI School of Design Thinking is Europe’s first innovation school for university students.

HPI’s PhD candidates carry out research at the HPI Research School in Potsdam and its branches in Cape Town, Haifa, Nanjing, and New York. The focus of HPI’s teaching and research is on the foundations and applications of large, highly complex and networked IT systems. Research areas include: Digital Health, Human Computer Interaction, Algorithm Engineering, Enterprise Platform and Integration Concepts, Internet Technologies and Systems, Computer Graphics Systems, Systems Analysis and Modeling, Software Architectures, Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, Information Systems, Operating Systems and Middleware, Business Process Technology, and Design Thinking.
