The center invite fellowship applications for up to 6 months, from September 2024 to February 2025. Fellows must reside in Heidelberg during their fellowship appointment and are expected to participate in the transdisciplinary program at the center as well as to contribute to its publications and public outreach. English is the working language at CAPAS.

The Fellowships

Fellows will be provided with an office space and access to university resources for international scholars (library, canteen, daycare, etc.). CAPAS further provides support with the administrative formalities of the fellowship (visa application, registration, etc.). Fellows who take unpaid leave from their home institution during the fellowship will receive financial compensation in form of a stipend (approx. 3.500 to 8.000 EUR, calculated on an individual basis). Alternatively, CAPAS compensates the fellow’s home institution with the corresponding salary for a teaching replacement, in case the fellow decides to keep their current salary and contract benefits. Financial support is capped by the regulations of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

To be eligible for a fellowship at CAPAS, the candidate must at least hold the rank of assistant professor or equivalent. Applicants from scientific/empirical fields with at least 5 years of post-doctoral experience are also eligible. Activists and artists who are open to transdisciplinary dialogue and have acquired substantial experience in academia are also welcome to put forward a proposal. CAPAS has a strong commitment to diversity and specifically encourages women* and BIPoC to apply.
