News from Campus OWLDeveloping Sustainable Design of AI Components and Preserving Human Self-Determination
Around 90 researchers are involved in the SAIL research network, a four-year joint project, receiving up to 14.8 million euros of funding from the North Rhine-Westphalia state government. SAIL is an excellent example of fruitful, successful collaboration within Campus OWL. It will explore how AI systems could operate in a sustainable, transparent, secure, resource-efficient way over a long product life cycle.

News from Campus OWLIntelligent Algorithms to Aid Disaster Management
After a disaster such as flooding or an earthquake, many people want to help. In order to quickly coordinate the assistance and use it in the most targeted way possible, a new project financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) was launched in January. Paderborn University is collaborating with its partners T-Systems (coordinator), Fraunhofer FOKUS, and others on digital solutions to coordinate volunteer helpers.
