Best Paper Award for Country Report from Germany at the TRB Conference in Atlanta
From June 8-10, the TRB 7th International Conference on Roundabouts and Geometric Design took place in Atlanta, Georgia, with around 370 participants from over 20 countries. From Germany, Prof. Kerstin Lemke (University of Siegen), Dr. Marco Irzik (BASt) and Dr. Matthias Zimmermann (KIT) took part in the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Conference.

Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche announces the winners of the Startup Factories lighthouse competition. UoC and partners’ Gateway Factory receives up to ten million euros as a joint venture of the participating universities to promote deep-tech startups.

Heidelberg University has been successful with three applications in the Cluster of Excellence funding line. The existing cluster 3DMM2O (3D Matter Made to Order) will receive further funding and with SynthImmune (Engineering Immune Function with Synthetic Biology) and GreenRobust (Understanding Robustness in Plants from Molecules to Ecosystems) two new initiatives have also been selected for a seven-year funding period.

Frank Winkler from Heidelberg University and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is to receive the world’s largest prize in the area of brain research − the Brain Prize 2025 granted by the Lundbeck Foundation. He shares the award with Prof. Dr Michelle Monje, whose research as a neuroscientist and neurooncologist at Stanford University for their groundbreaking research in cancer neuroscience.
