ERC Consolidator Grant for Benjamin Gess at Bielefeld University for research on the impact of randomness on chaos
How can we use mathematics to capture and describe complex systems that seem to be driven by randomness? And how can we describe the fact that even the slightest fluctuations can lead to major changes in climate dynamics? Benjamin Gess at Bielefeld University focuses on mathematical structures that capture the interaction of random events and complex behavior. For his work he will receive two million Euros over a five-year period from the European Research Council Consolidator Grant.

The German Cancer Prize 2023 in the category “Experimental Research” goes to Prof. Dr. Christian Reinhardt, researcher at the Medical Faculty of the UDE. His research focus is in the areas of genome stability and the biology of aggressive lymphomas, also known as “lymphatic gland cancer”. Professor Reinhardt is Director of the Clinic for Hematology and Stem Cell Transplantation at the University Hospital in Essen.
